Adobe Uses AI In Newest Audio Tool That Separates Different Sounds in a Recording

Adobe is reportedly developing an AI-powered audio tool, Project Sound Lift, which will allow users to distinguish and separate different components of sound within a single recording. The tool, which was demonstrated in a report by The Verge, will enable users to load an audio file, choose the sounds they wish to remove, and generate separate files for the background noise and the primary sound. The separated tracks can then be modified individually in Adobe Premiere Pro.

However, Adobe's Project Sound Lift is still a work-in-progress and is currently being previewed as part of Adobe's "Sneak" previews. The technology used in the project is similar to that used to restore and release the first Beatles song in almost 30 years. Adobe's announcement of Project Sound Lift follows its October 12 MAX Sneak event, where 11 projects leveraging generative AI were announced. Some of these projects are closer to completion than others, and their release dates will depend on their development cycles.
