Apr 23, 2024 - theverge.com
Adobe is introducing new generative AI tools to its Photoshop software, powered by Adobe’s new Firefly Image 3 foundation model. The most notable tool is Reference Image, which uses user-uploaded images to guide the output generated by Adobe’s AI. The tools are currently available via the Photoshop beta desktop app and will be generally available later this year. Other tools include Generate Background, Enhance Detail, Generate Similar, and Generate Image.

In addition to the AI tools, Adobe is also adding new standard tools to Photoshop, including an Adjustment Brush for non-destructive changes, Adjustment Presets for quick image changes using filters, and an improved Font Browser for real-time access to over 25,000 fonts in Adobe’s cloud. Adobe's third-generation Firefly model, with higher-quality image generation capabilities, is also available in a public, global beta for anyone to try outside of Photoshop via the Firefly web application.
