AI Dubbing Company Set to Translate and Dub World Poker Tour Episodes

Mar 29, 2024 - techtimes.com
The World Poker Tour (WPT) is set to have nearly 140 hours of its televised gaming brand translated and dubbed into Brazilian Portuguese and Latin American Spanish by London-based AI dubbing company, Papercup. The AI firm will replace WPT's current localization techniques in the region, halving lead times and allowing the programming to reach viewers on OTT platforms and its own FAST channel more quickly. Papercup's technology combines machine-learning with human translators, and is used by organizations such as The Jamie Oliver Group, Fuse Media, Bloomberg, Fremantle, and Sky News to localize content.

In other developments, anime streaming giant Crunchyroll is exploring the use of generative AI for closed captioning and subtitling, with the aim of improving and streamlining processes and expediting the completion of subtitles in other languages. YouTube has also developed an AI-powered dubbing system, Aloud, which is currently available for content creators in English, Spanish, and Portuguese, with plans to include more languages in the future.
