Aug 14, 2023 - news.bensbites.co
Anthropic, an AI startup co-founded by former OpenAI leaders, is set to receive $100 million in funding from South Korean mobile carrier SK Telecom (SKT). This comes three months after Anthropic raised $450 million in a Series C funding round. The two companies plan to co-develop a multilingual large language model (LLM) for global telco firms, led by Anthropic's chief science officer, Jared Kaplan.

The LLM, which will support six languages, will be used by four Global Telco AI Alliance members to offer AI developments customized to their users in each market. Anthropic, founded in 2021, is also developing an AI system called Claude, which helps corporations manage tasks such as searching, generating answers, automating workflows, coding, and processing text in natural conversations.
