Amazon launches its Bedrock generative AI service in general availability | TechCrunch

Sep 28, 2023 - techcrunch.com
Amazon has announced the general availability of Bedrock, a service that provides a selection of generative AI models from Amazon and third-party partners via an API. Bedrock allows AWS customers to build apps on top of these AI models and customize them with their own data. In the coming weeks, Bedrock will also offer Llama 2, the open source large language model from Meta. Amazon claims Bedrock will be the first fully managed generative AI service to offer Llama 2.

In related news, Amazon has also announced the rollout of its Titan Embeddings model, a first-party model that converts text to numerical representations to power search and personalization applications. Despite a rocky start, with most cloud customers not having access six weeks after its demo, Amazon is looking to make a significant impact in the generative AI market with these recent developments and its multi-billion-dollar investment in AI startup Anthropic.
