Amazon reportedly building ‘Olympus’ language model with 2 trillion parameters - SiliconANGLE

Nov 08, 2023 - siliconangle.com
Amazon is reportedly developing a large language model, internally known as Olympus, with 2 trillion parameters. The project, led by Rohit Prasad, senior vice president and head scientist for artificial general intelligence at Amazon, is expected to enhance the value proposition of Amazon Web Services (AWS). The Olympus model could be made available to other companies through AWS, and it might be more expensive than the existing Titan models due to the increased hardware required for more parameters.

The Olympus project could increase competition for major AI developers like OpenAI and Anthropic PBC. AWS has already launched a cloud service, Amazon Bedrock, which provides access to internally developed and third-party generative AI models. The service includes a lineup of customizable language models, the Titan series, developed by Amazon.
