AMD ROCm 6.0 Now Available To Download With MI300 Support, PyTorch FP8 & More AI

AMD has officially released ROCm 6.0, with the source code and binaries now publicly available. The new version supports the AMD Instinct MI300A/MIX300X accelerators, although it currently does not support Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9. ROCm 6.0 also includes support for more AI libraries, FP8 support in PyTorch, and improved documentation. A new meta package has been introduced to simplify the deployment of ROCm 6.0, and the AMD instinct MI50 has been put on end-of-support notice.

In terms of hardware, ROCm 6.0 supports Radeon RX 7900 XTX and Radeon VII cards, with no information available on when the rest of the AMD Radeon RX 7000 series may receive official support. For Radeon Pro hardware, the Pro W7900, Pro W6800, Pro V620, and Pro VII are supported. The Instinct MI300, MI250, MI210, and MI100 series are fully supported, while the MI50 series is nearing end-of-support.
