Apple has announced a new generative AI offering, Apple Intelligence, at its Worldwide Developer Conference. The technology will not only be consumer-facing but will also be available for developers to integrate into their own apps. Apple's SDKs have been updated with new APIs and frameworks, allowing developers to integrate features like the Image Playground or genAI image creation. AI-powered writing tools will also be available in any app using the standard editable text view.

In addition, Apple is enhancing ways for developers to integrate Siri into their apps. Developers who have adopted SiriKit will see immediate enhancements for many of Siri’s new capabilities without any extra work. The App Intents framework, which allows for app-like interactions without the app being installed, will also gain access to Apple Intelligence. New intents are being defined across categories including Books, Browsers, Cameras, Document Readers, File Management, Journals, Mail, Photos, Presentations, Spreadsheets, Whiteboards, and Word Processors.
