Apple is in talks with publishers to use their content to train GenAI models: Report

Dec 25, 2023 - businesstoday.in
Apple is reportedly negotiating with major publishers, including Condé Nast, NBC News, and IAC, to license their content archives for training its generative AI model. The tech giant has proposed a $50 million multiyear deal for this purpose. Apple is developing its own internal ChatGPT-like service and is also working on a conversational AI model called "Foundational Models". The company is also rumoured to be developing an image generational model and a multimodal AI that can process images, videos, and text.

However, some publishers have shown hesitation, citing past inconsistent business deals with tech companies. Despite being late to the game compared to Google and Microsoft, Apple is investing heavily in AI. The company's AI projects, if integrated with AppleCare, could potentially enhance customer interaction and automate multistep commands with Siri.
