Apple is reportedly developing a new version of its voice assistant, Siri, which will be powered by advanced large language models, according to Bloomberg. The new, more conversational Siri is part of Apple's efforts to catch up in the AI field, where competitors have launched more natural-sounding features. The new assistant is expected to fully replace the current Siri interface by spring 2026, and will be similar to OpenAI’s Advanced Voice Mode, with the same access to personal data and apps that Siri currently has.
In the meantime, Apple is depending on third parties to enhance the iPhone’s advanced AI features. OpenAI’s ChatGPT will be integrated into Apple Intelligence in December, and Apple is reportedly in talks with other AI providers, such as Google and Anthropic, for similar collaborations.
