Nov 13, 2024 - techcrunch.com
Apple has launched Final Cut Pro 11, 13 years after the release of Final Cut X. The updated video-editing software, which costs $300 for new customers, includes AI-powered features such as Magnetic Mask and Transcribe to Captions. The former allows users to crop people and objects out of video without a green screen, while the latter adds text to the software's timeline. The software also supports editing of Spatial Video, captured by the latest iPhones and Apple's mixed-reality headset.

In addition to the new features, Final Cut Pro 11 has been optimized for Apple's M-series chips, enabling playback of more simultaneous 4K and 8K ProRes video streams. Apple has also released Final Cut Pro for iPad 2.1, which includes enhancements to light and color, as well as an improved workflow experience. Both software updates are available for download from Wednesday, with existing users receiving them as free updates.
