AR glasses with multimodal AI nets funding from Pokémon Go creator | TechCrunch

Feb 08, 2024 - techcrunch.com
Singapore-based startup Brilliant Labs has announced its new product, Frame, a pair of lightweight AR glasses powered by a multimodal AI assistant called Noa. The glasses, which can generate and project text onto the lenses in response to voice commands, have attracted investment from John Hanke, CEO of Niantic, the company behind Pokemon Go. Frame's lenses have a resolution of 640 x 400 for displaying videos and photos, and the AI assistant Noa is capable of visual processing, image generation and translation.

The glasses are Bluetooth-enabled and currently rely on a smartphone to access various AI models, but the founders aim to eventually embed lightweight machine-learning models directly into the glasses. Frame will be available for pre-order starting today and will retail at $349, with shipping beginning in April. The new investment from Hanke brings Brilliant Labs' total financing to $6 million.
