Buymeacoffee's founder has built an AI-powered voice note app | TechCrunch

May 13, 2024 - techcrunch.com
Voicenotes, a new app developed by Buymeacoffee's founder, Jijo Sunny, and his wife Aleesha, aims to differentiate itself in the crowded transcription app market by including an AI assistant that allows users to ask questions of their past notes. The app, which was made public in April, offers features such as summaries, different formatting options, and the ability to verbally search through notes. It also uses AI to prompt users to record notes and can turn notes into various formats such as blog posts, tweets, to-do lists, or emails.

Despite the innovative features, Voicenotes faces stiff competition from other apps like Cleft Notes and AudioPen, as well as native apps such as Google Recorder and Samsung’s Transcribe Assist. The app is free to use but charges $10 a month for access to better AI models and to remove note length restrictions. A lifetime plan is also available for $50. The company has reportedly already earned $100,000 in revenue from subscriptions. Future plans for Voicenotes include availability on smartwatches and the ability to turn voice notes into to-do lists with reminders.
