The Union Cabinet has approved the 'India AI mission', allocating Rs 10,371.92 crore over five years to boost Artificial Intelligence in India. The mission, to be implemented by the ‘IndiaAI’ Independent Business Division under Digital India Corporation, will establish a comprehensive ecosystem to catalyze AI innovation through strategic programs and partnerships across public and private sectors. The mission includes eight components such as IndiaAI Compute Capacity, IndiaAI Innovation Centre, and a dataset platform. The government also aims to create highly skilled employment opportunities and add AI compute infrastructure of 10,000 or more Graphics Processing Units through public-private partnership.
