Cloudflare launches new AI tools to help customers deploy and run models | TechCrunch

Sep 27, 2023 - techcrunch.com
Cloudflare, the cloud services provider, is launching a suite of products and apps to help customers build, deploy, and run AI models at the network edge. The new offerings include Workers AI, which allows customers to access nearby GPUs to run AI models on a pay-as-you-go basis, Vectorize, a vector database for storing vector embeddings, and AI Gateway, which provides metrics for better cost management of running AI apps. The company's CEO, Matthew Prince, stated that the new product suite was motivated by customer demand for a simpler, more cost-effective AI management solution.

The Workers AI aims to ensure AI inference happens on GPUs close to users for a low-latency, AI-powered end-user experience. It allows AI models to run wherever processing makes the most sense in terms of bandwidth, latency, connectivity, processing, and localization constraints. Vectorize targets customers needing to store vector embeddings for AI models in a database. AI Gateway provides observability features to assist with tracking AI traffic and offers capabilities to reduce costs, including caching and rate limiting. Cloudflare has partnered with AI startup Hugging Face and Databricks to optimize and deploy AI models.
