Jun 10, 2025 - cnet.com
A recent CNET survey reveals that consumer interest in mobile AI features is declining, with only 11% of US smartphone owners upgrading for AI capabilities, down 7% from last year. Despite tech giants like Apple, Samsung, and Google integrating AI into their devices, consumers prioritize price, battery life, and storage over AI features. Privacy concerns are rising, with over 40% of users worried about AI on their smartphones. Additionally, half of the respondents are unwilling to pay extra for AI features, indicating subscription fatigue.

Smart assistants like Siri and Google's Gemini are not widely used daily, with only 10% and 9% of users engaging with them regularly. While AI capabilities continue to expand, consumer apprehension remains, with only 14% finding AI features helpful. Interest in slim phone designs is also low, with just 7% motivated to upgrade for a thinner device. The survey, conducted by YouGov Plc. for CNET, included 2,201 adults, with fieldwork carried out online in May 2025.
