Nov 16, 2023 - siliconangle.com
Databricks Inc. has launched a new AI-powered offering, the Data Intelligence Platform, designed to assist enterprises in processing their data. The platform, which combines Databricks’ data lakehouse with technology acquired from MosaicML Inc., includes components such as Databricks Assistant, which allows users to query data using natural-language prompts, and Unity Catalog, an AI-equipped tool that creates a centralized inventory of a company's internal data assets. The platform is already being used by CEOs, executives, and healthcare professionals, including doctors at Tufts University’s medical school.

The company's CEO, Ali Ghodsi, revealed that the demand for the platform's AI development tools has led to strong revenue growth for Databricks, with its annualized revenue run rate now exceeding $1.5 billion. This comes after a year-over-year sales growth of more than 50% in the second quarter. However, due to high usage, some customers will have to wait to access the cloud-based graphics cards rented by the company to support AI projects.
