Dice books $65M for its event discovery and ticketing platform | TechCrunch

Aug 23, 2023 - techcrunch.com
London-based events tech startup, Dice, has raised $65 million to expand its events discovery and ticketing platform in the U.S. and Europe. The funding comes after a year in which Dice provided services to millions of fans, 55,000 artists, and over 10,000 venues, festivals, and promoters across 30 cities. The company plans to focus on live events, moving away from live streaming which it had leaned into during the pandemic. The funding round was led by MUSIC, a VC headed by musician and music executive Matt Pincus, with participation from Structural Capital, Ahdritz Holding LLC, Exor Ventures, and Mirabaud Lifestyle Fund.

Dice's main focus is music events, although it also provides services for other live events like comedy and drag cabaret. The company has built its own datasets for personalized recommendations, with almost half of all Dice ticket sales coming through this channel. CEO Phil Hutcheon stated that the company is working on tools for artists, venues, and promoters to use its data next year. Despite the dominance of larger platforms in the events and ticketing market, Dice has managed to carve out a niche by building trust with its users and focusing on fan engagement.
