Exclusive: Sam Altman and Arianna Huffington's Thrive AI health assistant has a bare-bones demo

Nov 14, 2024 - techcrunch.com
Arianna Huffington, founder of Huffington Post, and Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, announced a venture called Thrive AI Health in a Time op-ed. The goal of the venture is to create an AI-powered assistant to promote healthier lifestyles, backed by Huffington’s mental wellness firm Thrive Global and the OpenAI Startup Fund. The AI health coach is intended to provide personalized advice on sleep, food, fitness, stress management, and connection. A demo of a minimum viable version of the product has been found on the company's official website, though it is largely nonfunctional.

Since its unveiling four months ago, Thrive AI Health has been relatively quiet. The company's CEO, DeCarlos Love, has not posted since July, and aside from launching a beta program sign-up, the company has kept press engagements minimal. A press release in October mentioned that subscribers to Function Health, a premium personal health management platform, will be able to share their data with Thrive’s health coach for personalized recommendations and real-time guidance. The company, which is currently hiring, has fewer than 10 employees according to LinkedIn.
