General Catalyst and Khosla Ventures back data mapping startup Lume | TechCrunch

Nov 12, 2024 - techcrunch.com
Lume, a data integration company, uses AI and algorithms to automate data mapping, extracting data from siloed databases and converting it into a standardized format for easy integration into other workflows. The system, which focuses on complex nested data formats like JSON, notifies users and attempts to fix the issue if a data integration breaks. Lume also offers an API and a web platform for clients to embed directly into their workflows. The company was founded in 2023 and has since attracted dozens of customers ranging from startups to Fortune 500 companies.

Recently, Lume raised a $4.2 million seed round led by General Catalyst, with participation from Khosla Ventures, Floodgate, and Y Combinator, among others. The funds will be used for hiring and further tech development. Despite competition from companies like SnapLogic and Osmos, Lume's co-founder and CEO, Nicolas Machado, believes that their unique algorithms and API integration will set them apart. In the future, Lume aims to facilitate seamless data flow between any two data systems.
