Generative AI Compute Platform D-Matrix Raises $110M Series B

Sep 06, 2023 - news.crunchbase.com
D-Matrix, a startup that designs chips for generative AI applications, has raised $110 million in a Series B funding round led by Temasek. The company's chips aim to run AI applications more efficiently by using less energy for AI processing. Other investors in the round include Industry Ventures, Ericsson Ventures, Marlan Holding, Mirae Asset, Cortes Capital, Archerman Capital, TGC Square, Lam Capital, and Samsung Ventures.

Despite the need for advanced chips, funding for U.S.-based startups has been slow this year, with domestic chip startups raising less than $600 million to date. However, generative AI technology could change this trend. D-Matrix, founded in 2019, has so far raised $154 million, with its last funding round, a Series A, raising $44 million in April last year.
