GitHub, a Microsoft-owned company, is expanding the availability of its AI-powered coding chatbot, Copilot Chat, to individual users in Visual Studio and Visual Studio Code. Initially launched for business users in July, the tool allows developers to interact with an AI assistant for help in coding, learning new languages or frameworks, troubleshooting bugs, and answering coding questions without leaving the Integrated Development Environment (IDE).

The Copilot tier for individual users is priced at $10 per month or $100 per year. AI chatbots for coding assistance have gained popularity, with Google and Amazon also offering similar tools for Android developers and CodeWhisperer respectively.
