Google delists AI Test Kitchen app on Android and iOS [Updated]

Aug 02, 2023 - 9to5google.com
Google's AI Test Kitchen app, which was a platform for the public to test Google's AI-powered tools, has been delisted from both Android and iOS, and will now be exclusively available on the web. The move is intended to allow for more rapid and easy updates across all devices, instead of pushing separate updates to Android, iOS, and the web. The mobile apps began winding down on Monday and are no longer publicly listed on the Google Play Store or Apple App Store, although they may still be visible to those who previously installed them.

Despite Google's announcement of a "Season 2" for the app with new tools, those plans appear to have been scrapped. Instead, AI Test Kitchen added MusicLM at the past Google I/O and dropped support for the earlier demos. Users who previously used the mobile app can continue to access MusicLM and any potential future additions through the web app. The shutting down of the mobile apps is not surprising, considering Google has always positioned AI Test Kitchen as a place for experiments.

Key takeaways:

  • The AI Test Kitchen app, a platform for testing Google's AI-powered tools, has been delisted from both Android and iOS, and has moved solely to the web.
  • AI Test Kitchen initially hosted three experimental demos, with more promised to come. However, plans for a "Season 2" of the app were scrapped.
  • Google confirmed that the move to the web is intended to allow AI Test Kitchen to be updated more rapidly and easily across all devices.
  • Despite the mobile apps being delisted, users who previously installed them can still access them and can continue to use the web app to access MusicLM and any potential future additions.
