Google introduces GKE Enterprise to help companies manage complex Kubernetes environments | TechCrunch

Aug 29, 2023 - news.bensbites.co
Google has launched a new enterprise version of its Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) at Google Cloud Next. The new GKE Enterprise combines Anthos, a container platform introduced in 2019, with GKE to help enterprises manage complex workloads across multiple clusters. It includes advanced features for managing Kubernetes environments, such as security and governance tools, service mesh management, and a dashboard for workload overviews. Google is also introducing the concept of managing 'fleets of clusters' to allow development teams to move faster while adhering to company cluster management guidelines.

In addition to GKE Enterprise, Google is also announcing a new chip, the Cloud TPU v5e, designed to power AI workloads and capable of scaling to tens of thousands of chips. This chip will be available in preview in GKE. Google is also launching Duet AI for GKE and Cloud Run, a system that allows users to ask questions and receive answers in plain language based on Google's documentation. GKE Enterprise will be available in preview from September, the Cloud TPU v5e from this week, and Duet AI for GKE and Cloud Run as part of the expanded Duet AI in Google Cloud preview.
