Google is bringing its AI-powered search to more than 120 new countries and territories

Nov 08, 2023 - theverge.com
Google is expanding its Search Generative Experience (SGE) to over 120 new countries, including Mexico, Brazil, South Korea, Indonesia, Nigeria, Kenya, and South Africa, and adding support for four new languages: Spanish, Portuguese, Korean, and Indonesian. The expansion will allow more users to experiment with SGE, but they will need to opt in via Google’s Search Labs program and can only use SGE on Chrome on desktop or the Google app on Android and iOS.

In addition to the expansion, Google is introducing new features to SGE. These include a new "ask a follow up" text box on the SGE results page, a feature that prompts users to clarify words with multiple meanings during translations, and the ability to hover over certain coding and health terms in SGE search results to learn more about them. These features aim to provide answers to user queries without requiring them to click out to other sources.
