Google sues scammers that use Bard to 'exploit' the public

Nov 13, 2023 - androidcentral.com
Google is taking legal action against two groups of online scammers from Vietnam who exploited its AI chatbot, Bard. The first group tricked users into downloading malware through social media posts and ads, promising access to Google Bard. The second group created multiple Google accounts to submit false DMCA (copyright) claims against over 10,000 businesses. Google is seeking an order to stop the scammers from setting up domains and has filed 300 takedowns since April.

In response to these scams, Google has increased its efforts to reduce the risk of scams. It introduced a BIMI authentication system to Gmail in May, which includes blue verification checkmarks for emails to help users identify fake emails. Google Messages also automatically blocks what it considers to be spam messages.
