Google will make fake AI products to help you find real gifts

Nov 16, 2023 - theverge.com
Google is introducing new shopping features powered by its AI-powered Search Generative Experience (SGE), aimed at helping users find unique products. The features include AI-generated gift ideas and fashion items, and an expansion of virtual try-ons for men. Users in the US who have opted into SGE will receive suggested subcategories when searching for gift ideas, and can explore these to find shoppable gift options. Another feature allows users to generate photorealistic images of apparel they want using a text description, and find similar products to purchase online.

In addition to these, Google is expanding its AI-powered virtual try-on tool to include men's tops from hundreds of brands. Users can see what a shirt or sweater will look like on 40 models varying in skin tone, body shape, size, and height. This feature is currently limited to the Google app and mobile browsers in the US, but will be available on desktop soon.
