May 13, 2024 - techcrunch.com
Google has announced plans to commercialize its 3D teleconferencing platform, Project Starline, in 2025 in partnership with HP. The platform, which uses 3D imaging and a custom-designed screen, aims to make teleconferences more immersive, creating the illusion of participants being in the same room. Google is also working to integrate Starline with popular videoconferencing services like Zoom and Google Meet.

Despite many companies planning to return to in-office setups post-pandemic, Google believes there will be demand for Starline, particularly for office-to-office virtual conferences. Last year, Google revealed that WeWork, T-Mobile, Salesforce, and around 100 other enterprise partners were testing a prototype version of the technology.
