Google's AI Chatbot Gets a New Name, New App and a New Price

Feb 08, 2024 - cnet.com
Google's AI chatbot, Bard, is being renamed Gemini to align with the AI model the company launched in December. The rebranding includes a new name, logo, apps, and website, and a premium paid version called Ultra. Despite the changes, the chatbot's functionality will remain largely the same. However, Google warns that Gemini may misidentify itself as Bard during the transition period. The company also plans to roll out two new Gemini apps for Android and iOS, signaling the beginning of the end for Google Assistant on mobile.

In addition to the rebranding, Google announced Gemini Advanced, a new feature available through the Google One subscription service. This feature provides access to Ultra 1.0, described as Google's "largest and most capable state-of-the-art AI model." The company is also renaming its Duet AI tools to Gemini for Google Workspace and Google Cloud. These tools will soon be available to Google One AI Premium plan subscribers for use in Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Meet.
