Dec 09, 2023 - tech.slashdot.org
Google's AI-powered note-taking app, NotebookLM, previously known as Project Tailwind, is now widely available in the US. The app, which can summarize documents, generate key points, and answer questions about note-taking sources, is now incorporating Google's Gemini Pro AI model to aid in document understanding and reasoning. It also has a new feature that can transform notes into different types of documents, such as outlines, study guides, emails, script outlines, newsletters, and more, based on user preference.

In addition to these features, NotebookLM will now suggest actions based on user activity within the app. For instance, it may offer tools to refine prose or suggest related ideas from sources based on what the user has written. Other new features include the ability to save responses from NotebookLM as notes, share notes with others, and focus the app's AI on selected sources during a chat. The app's limitations have also been expanded, allowing up to 20 sources in a notebook, each with up to 200,000 words.
