Oct 04, 2023 - theverge.com
Google has officially announced the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, with the Pixel 8 starting at $699.99 for a 128GB model. The Pixel 8 has a slightly smaller 6.2-inch display that refreshes at 120Hz, a 4,485mAh battery, and a new design with more rounded corners. It also features a two-lens camera setup with a 50-megapixel main camera and a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera. The Pixel 8's front camera now supports face unlocking with the same security level as fingerprint unlocking.

The Pixel 8 is powered by the new Tensor G3 processor and comes with 8GB of RAM. It will launch with Android 14 and Google promises seven years of OS and security updates. Google has also redesigned the Pixel camera app and added new features to the Google Photos app, including the Magic Eraser and Best Take features. However, the Pixel 8 does not have the extended manual controls found on the Pixel 8 Pro.
