Helping developers build Gen AI apps with Google Cloud PostgreSQL databases

Aug 29, 2023 - cloud.google.com
Google Cloud has announced AlloyDB AI, a set of capabilities integrated into AlloyDB for PostgreSQL, aimed at helping developers build scalable generative AI applications using their operational data. The new tool allows users to transform their data into vector embeddings, running vector queries up to 10 times faster than standard PostgreSQL. It also integrates with the open-source AI ecosystem and Google Cloud’s Vertex AI platform, providing an end-to-end solution for building generative AI applications. AlloyDB AI is currently in preview via AlloyDB Omni and will be launched later this year on the AlloyDB managed service.

AlloyDB AI introduces new capabilities such as easy embeddings generation, enhanced vector support with faster vector queries, and integrations with the AI ecosystem. It was built with portability and flexibility in mind, allowing customers to build enterprise-grade, AI-enabled applications everywhere. The company also announced Duet AI in Database Migration Service, which provides AI-assisted code conversion to automate the conversion of Oracle database code.
