Internal Amazon documents reveal top cloud growth priorities for 2025

Nov 27, 2024 - businessinsider.com
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is focusing on seven growth initiatives for 2025, including healthcare, business applications, generative AI, and the Middle East region, according to internal documents. The initiatives, referred to as "AGIs", are designed to drive revenue and attract customers faster. The company's success in these areas is crucial as competition from Microsoft and Google increases. AWS's revenue grew by 19% to $27.5 billion in the most recent quarter, slower than Microsoft's and Google's cloud business on a percentage basis, but it still accounts for 30% of the global cloud infrastructure market.

The seven AGIs include "Accelerate to the Cloud from Data Centers (ACDC)" to fast-track customers to AWS's cloud-computing services, "AWS Top 2000 (T2K)" targeting the world's largest companies, "Business Applications Acceleration" focusing on the largest Business Application providers, a long-range plan for the Middle East, a "Generative AI Innovation Center", "IT & Application Outsourcing" to expand work with external partners, and the "Epic Growth Initiative" to onboard more customers to Epic System's electronic medical record software hosted on AWS's cloud infrastructure.

Key takeaways:

  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) is focusing on seven growth initiatives for 2025, including accelerating the transition from data centers to the cloud, targeting the world's largest companies, and expanding in the Middle East.
  • AWS is also planning to expand its work with external partners like Accenture and Tata Consultancy to sell AWS services to their existing customers.
  • The company is also focusing on generative AI through its Generative AI Innovation Center, which helps customers launch generative AI solutions.
  • AWS is also aiming to onboard more customers to Epic System's electronic medical record software, which is hosted on AWS's cloud infrastructure.
