Jony Ive invests in blender company

Oct 03, 2023 - theverge.com
Jony Ive, the renowned designer, has invested an undisclosed amount in Cruz, a company that produces a USB-C-powered bottle cap with built-in blades, effectively turning drink bottles into portable blenders. The company, founded by former Apple engineers Matthew Moore and Dakota Adams, launched the $129 BlenderCap earlier this year. The company aims to use Ive's investment to bring new products to market in the coming year, focusing on building a technology ecosystem in the drink-ware space.

Despite not being involved in the design of the BlenderCap, Ive's design studio, LoveFrom, has worked on various projects since he left Apple in 2019. Reports have recently surfaced that Ive is in talks with OpenAI to build the AI firm’s first consumer device, dubbed the “iPhone of artificial intelligence.” Other investors in Cruz include former Apple VP Nick Forlenza and former eBay CEO Devin Wenig.
