Google Photos is rolling out its Magic Editor and other AI-powered tools for free to all Android and iOS users. The Magic Editor, which debuted with the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro, allows users to move, resize, or erase parts of a photo, and apply contextual presets. Users will be allowed 10 Magic Editor library saves per month, with additional edits requiring a Google One Premium (2+TB) plan or Pixel user status. The free tools also include Magic Eraser, Unblur, Sky suggestions, Color pop, HDR effect for photos & videos, Portrait blur, Portrait light, Cinematic photos, Styles in collage editor, and Video effects.
The rollout, which began on May 15, will continue over the coming months. Previously, these tools required a Google One subscription. The company is also making other changes, such as discontinuing VPN by Google One in June. Hardware requirements for Android include OS 8.0+, 4+GB of RAM, and a 64-bit chipset.
