Meta Unveils Its First Gen AI Products, Real-Time Data Supported By Microsoft Search

Sep 27, 2023 - mediapost.com
Meta Platforms has introduced its first consumer-facing generative artificial intelligence (GAI) products, including Meta AI, a conversational assistant available on WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram. The chatbot, which uses a custom model based on the Llama 2 large language model, will provide real-time information through a partnership with Microsoft's Bing search engine. The company also plans to launch 28 more AIs in beta, featuring icons and influencers like Tom Brady, Kendall Jenner, and Naomi Osaka, and an AI Studio for businesses and creators to develop their own AI chatbots.

Two new features, Restyle and Backdrop, will be added to Instagram, using technology from Emu and Meta’s Segment Anything Model. However, the company also announced that Alexis Black Bjorlin, vice president of infrastructure at Meta, who was overseeing the company's efforts to develop its own chips for its AI work, is leaving her position at the end of the month.
