Meta's AI characters are now live across its U.S. apps, with support for Bing Search and better memory | TechCrunch

Dec 06, 2023 - techcrunch.com
Meta has fully launched its 28 AI characters, including those based on celebrities, across its apps in the U.S., with plans to add more characters that support Bing-powered search. The company is also experimenting with a "long-term memory" feature, allowing the AI characters to remember and learn from past conversations. This feature will initially be available in seven characters, including those based on Kendall Jenner and Mr. Beast. Users can clear their chat history with the AIs at any time.

In addition to the memory feature, more characters will have the ability to tap into Bing Search, a feature already available in two sports-related AIs. To interact with the AIs, users start a new message in the app and select "Create an AI chat". This move puts Meta in competition with other AI character apps like Character AI, a startup valued at $1 billion.
