Meta's Quest 3 Headset and New Ray-Ban Smart Glasses Both Have Qualcomm Chips: Here’s What to Know

Sep 28, 2023 - techtimes.com
Meta has unveiled two new devices, the Quest 3 virtual reality headset and the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, both powered by Qualcomm chipsets. The Quest 3 features a Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 chipset, expected to double the GPU performance, while the Ray-Ban glasses have a Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 chipset, enabling AI abilities. The XR2 Gen 2 chipset also has advanced processing abilities for object and bodily tracking, including head and hands.

The new chipset in the Quest 3 is said to give the device similar capabilities to the Apple Vision Pro, which uses a custom R1 chip. However, performance still depends on the speed and resolution of other device cameras. Qualcomm also confirmed that the chipset is fast enough for users to play ping-pong, promising 2.5x GPU performance and up to eight times AI performance. The Ray-Ban glasses' chipset supports dual displays 1280 x 1280 for each eye and can take photos and videos on par with smartphones.
