May 21, 2024 - techcrunch.com
Microsoft has announced a new lineup of Windows machines called Copilot+ PCs, which will feature generative AI-powered features like Recall. These PCs will include dedicated chips called NPUs to power AI experiences, and will start at $999. Microsoft also unveiled new Surface devices, the Surface Laptop and Surface Pro, which focus on performance and battery life. The company also announced the Recall feature for Windows 11, which can remember apps and content a user accessed on their PC weeks or months ago.

The new Copilot+ PCs will also feature more AI capabilities, including a feature called Super Resolution that can restore old photos by automatically upscaling them. Another feature, Cocreator, allows users to generate images and ask the AI model to follow their drawing to change or restyle the image. Live Captions with live translations can translate any audio that passes through a PC into the user's chosen language. These new features are powered by the Windows Copilot Runtime, a collection of around 40 generative AI models.
