Moscow airport claims to have AI-powered radar system that can jam drones, but developer says it's not true

Nov 16, 2023 - businessinsider.com
Moscow's Sheremetyevo International Airport is reportedly setting up an AI-powered radar system, Yenot-SD, that can detect and jam drones, according to Russian state-owned news agency TASS. The system, operated by Kaspersky Lab, can also detect low-flying drones, flocks of birds, and ground perimeter violations. However, a spokesperson for Kaspersky denied the report, stating that the defense system is not being used at the airport and cannot protect against military drones.

The report comes in the context of recent drone attacks on Russian airports, allegedly carried out by Ukraine. In August, such attacks forced Moscow to shut down its four airports. The Russian defense ministry claimed to have repelled the drone attacks either by using electronic warfare equipment or by shooting them down.
