Movano’s smart ring is the rare CES health gadget that will actually ship

Jan 09, 2024 - theverge.com
Movano's Evie smart ring, a wearable health tech device designed with women in mind, is set to ship out to customers later this month. The ring, which can flex to accommodate finger swelling, includes sensors and flexible batteries and comes with a case that holds up to 10 full charges. The companion app includes period and mood tracking, which will eventually power AI-based insights on menstrual health, hormones, energy, sleep, and activity.

The ring will initially be able to perform spot checks and passive overnight readings for SpO2, or blood oxygen, using medical-grade sensors. Movano is seeking FDA clearance for its pulse oximeter, a move that will transition the device from a wellness to a medical device. The Evie Ring, which is currently available for iOS users, costs $269 and comes in gold, silver, and rose gold.

Key takeaways:

  • The Evie Ring by Movano is a woman-first wearable that includes health tracking features and is designed to accommodate finger swelling.
  • The ring has an estimated battery life of four days and comes with a case that holds up to 10 full charges.
  • The companion app includes period tracking and mood logging, and the company has built an AI framework to provide insights based on correlations between menstrual health, hormones, energy, sleep, and activity.
  • The Evie Ring is available for iOS users to buy now for $269, with shipping starting later this month. Android support is planned for the second quarter of the year.
