Musk's message to rival AI robots? Bring it on.

Mar 01, 2024 - businessinsider.com
Elon Musk is unfazed by a collaboration between humanoid robot startup Figure AI and OpenAI, a competitor to Musk's own AI startup, xAI. Musk, who is also developing a humanoid robot called Optimus through Tesla, responded to the announcement with a "bring it on" comment. His tech startup xAI debuted an AI chatbot, Grok, last year, and Musk has been posting updates on the development of Optimus, which was first unveiled in 2021.

Musk has a known disdain for OpenAI, which he co-founded and invested in before a falling out. He recently filed a lawsuit against the company and its founder, Sam Altman, alleging a breach of contract and violation of its original nonprofit mission. Figure AI, backed by OpenAI, has also secured funding from Microsoft, NVIDIA, and Amazon's Jeff Bezos, and plans to use its robots in manufacturing, logistics, warehousing, and retail.
