Nectir lets teachers tailor AI chatbots to provide their students with 24/7 educational support | TechCrunch

Dec 05, 2024 - techcrunch.com
Nectir, an AI tool designed to assist students with coursework, essay writing, and career guidance, has raised $4 million in seed funding, bringing its total funding to $6.3 million. The tool allows teachers to create a personalized AI assistant trained on their syllabi, textbooks, and assignments. The new funding will be used to develop new features and expand the team. Nectir was created in response to the ongoing teacher shortage and the need for individualized student feedback. It offers various personalization options and allows teachers to monitor student interactions with the tool.

The company is using the funding to build the second version of its product, which will include a new “sentiment analysis” feature. This feature will analyze student conversations and provide insights into their strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement, as well as suggest future classes and potential career paths. Nectir, launched in May, is already active with over 80,000 students at more than 100 schools, including Boston University, Los Angeles Pacific University, Questrom School of Business, Stanford Graduate School of Business, and UCSB.
