New in-field artificial intelligence technology will enhance sustainability and efficiency from field to fork

Nov 20, 2024 - financialpost.com
Protein Industries Canada, Croptimistic, TheoryMesh, and C-Merak have announced a project that uses AI technology to enhance precision agriculture tools, improving data collection and integration at the sub-field level. The project aims to provide more information at the sub-field level, offering farmers, ingredient processors, and food manufacturers valuable data from the farm to the final product. The data will help comply with regulations, meet consumer expectations for transparency, and support sustainability goals.

The project will see a co-investment of $5.4 million into innovative AI technologies to enhance the sustainability, competitiveness, and profitability of Canada’s agriculture and food production sector. The partners will develop and utilize AI-integrated technologies to collect sub-field-level data and management practices from producers, which will be used to predict process settings within the mill to generate high yields and less waste.
