Nothing’s new earbuds prove that it can (mostly) hang with the heavyweights

Apr 18, 2024 - theverge.com
The company Nothing has introduced two new earbuds, the Nothing Ear and Nothing Ear (a), priced at $149 and $99 respectively. These are the fourth and fifth products in the headphone category by the company, following the original Ear 1, the Ear Stick, and the Ear 2. The new earbuds maintain the design of the previous models, with improvements in day-to-day performance, sound profile personalization, and battery life. The Nothing Ear (a) earbuds are the first to feature a color, available in yellow.

Both the Nothing Ear and Ear (a) have the same strength of active noise cancellation and are able to muffle up to 45dB of noise. They are also IP54 dust and water-resistant, with the Ear’s case having a higher resilience with an IP55 rating. The Nothing Ear also offers wireless charging. The company has improved voice call performance and AI voice isolation on both sets of buds. The Nothing Ear has a more advanced driver system for improved richness in sound and partners with Mimi for a hearing test in the Nothing X app that creates a personal sound profile.
