Nvidia deepens BYD ties as it taps China EV makers' demand for AI

U.S. chipmaker Nvidia is broadening its collaboration with Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer BYD to include AI training, auto production, and in-car computing. This expansion comes despite Nvidia being prohibited from selling some of its most potent chips to China. BYD, the leading global EV producer, will utilize Nvidia's latest Drive Thor, a next-generation in-vehicle computing chip platform designed for AI and autonomous driving applications.

In addition to this, BYD will also employ Nvidia's AI infrastructure to train AI models for autonomous driving. The announcement was made by Nvidia at its GPU Technology Conference on Monday.
