Sep 12, 2023 - washingtonpost.com
Eight additional tech companies, including Salesforce, Nvidia, IBM, Palantir, and Stability, have joined the White House's voluntary artificial intelligence (AI) pledge. The pledge, now signed by 15 of the most influential US companies, includes commitments to develop technology to identify AI-generated images and share safety data with the government and academics. The move signals the White House's continued interest in AI, with an AI executive order in the works and President Biden supporting AI legislation efforts in Congress.

The White House's chief of staff, Jeff Zients, plans to meet with representatives from several of the companies to discuss AI benefits and risks. The commitments made will apply to the next system released by each company. Adobe’s executive vice president and general counsel, Dana Rao, called the commitments an “important step” in collaboration between the government and industry, emphasizing the need for thoughtful conversations to ensure AI legislation and regulation support innovation while providing essential safeguards for society and the public.
