Dec 18, 2024 - tomshardware.com
Nvidia has introduced the Jetson Orin Nano Super, a new development board offering 70% more performance at half the price of its predecessor. Priced at $249, it delivers 67 TOPS compared to the previous model's 40 TOPS for $499. The board features a six-core Arm Cortex-A78AE CPU, 8GB of DRAM, and a GPU with 1,024 CUDA cores and 32 Tensor cores. It supports USB-C or barrel connector power, has four USB 3.2 Type-A ports, MIPI CSI Camera connectors, M.2 connectors for SSDs, and a 40-PIN GPIO compatible with Raspberry Pi outputs. It runs on L4T, a Linux version tailored for Nvidia hardware.

Additionally, Nvidia is providing a software update for current-gen boards, including the Orin Nano, which boosts performance by up to 70%. For instance, the Orin NX 16GB will increase from 100 to 157 TOPS, and the Orin NX 8GB from 70 to 117 TOPS. The Jetson Orin Nano Super also sees significant performance improvements in AI tasks, with boosts in Large Language Model performance, vision models, and vision transformers. The new developer kits are expected to be available soon from major retailers like Amazon, DigiKey, Arrow.com, and Seeed Studio.
