Nvidia’s RTX GPUs can now upgrade SDR content to HDR using AI

Jan 24, 2024 - theverge.com
Nvidia is introducing a new feature, RTX Video HDR, for all RTX GPU owners. This feature uses AI to convert SDR color space video to HDR, enhancing the color detail in videos. It is part of the 551.23 Game Ready driver release for the new RTX 4070 Ti Super launch and works with Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome. Users with an HDR monitor and an RTX card can enable this feature through the Nvidia Control Panel.

In addition to RTX Video HDR, Nvidia's latest 551.23 driver release also supports the Ultra Low Latency Mode with DirectX 12 games, which reduces the render queue at the driver level. Nvidia continues to leverage AI in its features, including its Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) system, Deep Learning Dynamic Super Resolution (DLDSR) system, and Nvidia Broadcast's Eye Contact feature.
