OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and his boyfriend, Australian programmer Oliver Mulherin, are planning to have children soon. The couple, who maintain a private relationship, live together in San Francisco during the week and in a remodeled house on a private ranch in Napa, California on weekends. Mulherin, who has a background in AI, accompanied Altman to a White House dinner in honor of India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi in June.

Before Mulherin, Altman was in a nine-year relationship with Nick Sivo, with whom he co-founded the startup Loopt. The couple broke up in 2004 after selling the company in 2012. Both Altman and Mulherin did not respond to requests for comment from Insider.
